Widely considered one of Marc Chagall's most masterful lithographs, 'Les Adolescents' (1975) beautifully captures the pure euphoria of young love through a vibrant palette and masterful composition. At the heart of the artwork, an adoring young couple locks eyes in a tender embrace. Clad in brilliant attire, the woman in striking red and the man in deep teal, they stand isolated in a secluded field of dense shrubbery. Chagall establishes a dynamic, circular rhythm by surrounding the lovers with a joyful cast of characters: a translucent blue figure plunges from above, a mother cradles her infant in the lower right, and a whimsical celestial eclipse joins a watchful rooster and horse to complete the dreamlike scene.
