Ericsson Display Monitor Unit 3111, Wrapped, Project for Personal Computer (1985) by Christo transforms a utilitarian object, the personal computer monitor, into a striking meditation on form, materiality, and perception. Executed with collage elements, the work exemplifies Christo’s signature approach of wrapping, which both conceals and elevates the everyday. By enveloping the monitor, Christo abstracts its familiar contours, inviting viewers to reconsider the intersection of technology, design, and aesthetic experience. This very rare work aligns with Christo’s broader practice, in which objects and environments are temporarily reimagined to create encounters that are at once visual, tactile, and conceptual. Its intimate scale offers a rare opportunity to experience the monumental ethos of Christo’s wrapping projects in a personal, contemplative format.
